Monday Friday 2 nd Shift

Pay Range:

$17-27 BOE

Position Summary:

Responsible for the initial set-up, programming, tool set-up, in process inspection, and final completion of close tolerance details. You will work with CNC personnel, toolmakers, engineers, and supervisors to plan and execute the most cost-effective method for producing quality parts. Your ideas and suggestions are critical for continuous improvement and growth of our company. In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating with the Manufacturing Supervisors to assign work to other CNC machinists, providing guidance and training to other 2nd shift employees, and will be the first point of contact on 2nd shift for issues and questions.

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Develop processes, create part programs, select tooling and set up jobs as assigned

Safely operate assigned machine(s) to produce parts to quality and time requirements

Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work station

Train, provide guidance, and mentor other 2nd shift employees to ensure that quality parts are produced on time and on budget

Coordinate with supervisors to help assign work

Properly fill out required time travelers, time slips, required inspections, and appropriate paper work



Education: High School Diploma, HSED, or GED

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience setting up work, programing and producing close tolerance parts on a CNC horizontal Boring Mill, CNC horizontal machining center, CNC vertical machining center, or CNC lathe.


Must be able to use all instruments used for measuring: lengths, diameters, straightness, flatness, etc.

Extensive knowledge of carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, and boring tooling

Must understand G & M code programming

Knowledge of feeds & speeds

Working knowledge of GD & T

Understand the machinability of ferrous and non-ferrous materials

Must show demonstrated ability to be a mentor and trainer to others and be willing and proficient at sharing experiences and knowledge in a collaborative work environment


Education: Technical Degree in related field


Proficient at modeling and programming using Mastercam

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for 7 to 8 hours per shift; walk, bend, and reach without strain; climb on a step stool or ladder; occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
