General Job Duties:

  • Oversees and delegates daily tasks to assigned production employees.

  • Supervises employee duties to ensure Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals are met.

  • Trains production employees as needed.

  • Ensures housekeeping is maintained in department

  • Uses Microsoft Outlook (email) to communicate within and outside of the department.

  • Checks the fit up of each assembly within their area of responsibility.

  • Operates various material handling equipment, to include but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklift, and pallet jacks.

  • Assists employees in reading blue prints and interpreting weld symbols.

  • Solves production problems as they arise.

  • Ensures all company policies and procedures are being followed. Also "participate in developing" new policies and procedures as a process of continuous improvement at the direction of management.

  • Provides cross training opportunities to capable/qualified individuals.

  • Assigns work to meet daily priorities, helps to determine if departmental overtime is needed to meet customer ship dates and provides any other assistance as directed by Plant Manager.

  • Must ensure all tools are returned to shadow boards at the end of each shift and report and replace any broken or missing tools immediately

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Summary

  • 3 to 5 years progressive experience in a manufacturing operation.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing of steel or metal fabrication

  • Must learn how to effectively use the ERP computer system to report data, check job schedules, inventory levels, routings, bill of materials, as well as, train new and existing employees

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate drawings, and specifications. .

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communications. Must also be able to read and comprehend documents written in English.

  • Familiarity with a wide range of equipment & tools used in steel manufacturing.

  • Able to read blue prints and weld symbols to visually inspect completed hardware and assemblies

  • Able to read & understand work orders, safety rules, & various manuals.

  • Able to operate various material handling equipment, to include but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklifts and pallet jacks.

  • Must be able to perform work functions while standing for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift, push, pry, and drag heavy materials up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to reach, grasp, bend, stoop, crawl under or climb over to weld product

Job Requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years Vocational Welding Fabrication or Certificates for Mig and Tig

  • Minimum of 18 years of age

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Have a minimum of 1 -3 months of related experience

  • Able to work a 8 or 12 hour shift

  • Fluency in the English language read and write, bilingual in Spanish/English preferred but not required

  • Have a strong work ethic with reliability and dependability

  • Safety glasses must be work at all times

  • Safety toe footwear is required at all times

  • Pass a 7 year criminal background check and drug screen

  • Must enjoy working with others and taking direction when needed

  • Must maintain a friendly and customer service oriented approach to co-workers and customers
